He draws from his experiences and memories, including the abuse he faced at the hands of his father, his teenage years when he made the decision to escape, his immigration to Australia and his subsequent efforts to make a living by working in the government, from military duty to the New South Wales ambulance service.

 

By recounting his struggles and his achievements, he encourages readers, particularly those facing hard times, to just take a deep breath, have faith in themselves and jump into life. He emphasizes the importance of choosing friends wisely and not being afraid to take chances. He says that it is important to keep in mind that good friends, trusted friends, are the best assets and that not everyone is out to rob or steal from others.
